The DEDO Foundation and All for Family (VPR) launched the Centre for Integrated Health-Social Services in the 3rd largest city in Slovakia. The Centre connects healthcare, social counselling and other forms of support for people in difficult living situations – WITHOUT FEES, PREJUDICE nor EXCLUSIONS.
Proven model already in Prešov
“We are very pleased that we have been able to transfer the integrated care model from Košice to Prešov, where we are launching a similar centre. We are currently reinforcing the existing team of social workers and work coaches with field social workers and health workers. At the same time, we are fine-tuning the latest legislative formalities,” says Alena Vachnova, an expert on strategies and innovation in the DEDO Foundation network.
What services do we provide?
To best respond to people’s needs in the field, we drew on the data from the Homelessness Count in Prešov (2025) and Needs Assessment (2025). Behind the integrated services is a multidisciplinary team of experts providing:
● health services, including general practitioner and accompanying specialists;
● psychological counselling;
● social counselling;
● IPS (Individual Placement and Support) job coaching;
● housing support with Housing First approach.
Who is the HUB for
The HUBis open to anyone who finds themselves in a difficult living situation – homeless people, families in material need, or anyone who needs help and does not know whom to contact. We maintain the principle that has worked well in Košice: the assistance should be available immediately, without complicated paperwork and without the need for a person to navigate through dozens of different institutions.
Why an integrated approach works
The Košice experience has shown that people in crisis most often require help with multiple needs at the same time – be it housing, health problems or help with document handling. When this support is fragmented between different organisations and authorities, many people are simply lost in the system. A single place where the entire team of experts meets makes it possible to react more quickly and comprehensively – and above all, a person does not have to explain their story to ten different people.
Since the opening of the Hub in Košice in November 2025, we have provided support to hundreds of clients who used a diverse mix of our services: 1085 health interventions and treatments and 1364 social, job counselling and other interventions.
