Psychological Support in the SOLACE-CEE Project

SOLACE Spotlight: Healing Beyond Consultations

In the SOLACE-CEE project, psychological support is much more than a clinical appointment—it is a journey of accompaniment rooted in safety, dignity, and respect. For those facing homelessness, the path to recovery requires more than just medical care; it requires a space where they can feel human again. Our psychological intervention focuses entirely on the unique pace and needs of every individual.

How we build trust: Our 4 Pillars of Support

Our psychologists use a gentle, trauma-informed approach to help beneficiaries rebuild their lives:

  • Creating a Safe Space: A judgment-free environment where beneficiaries feel truly heard and protected.
  • Respecting Autonomy: The beneficiary is in the driver’s seat. They decide what to share and when they are ready to talk—no forced narratives or clinical pressure.
  • Validating the Journey: We help them understand that their reactions to hardship are normal responses to abnormal life events. Healing is a process, not a race.
  • Restoring Inner Strength: We don’t just provide “fixes”; we help individuals rediscover their own internal resources to regain control over their lives.

The Bridge to Integrated Care

In the Romanian context, we’ve learned that mental health is the gateway to physical recovery. A beneficiary who feels psychologically supported is more likely to follow through with medical treatments and engage with social services. By addressing the invisible scars of trauma, we are laying the foundation for the success of all other medical interventions within the SOLACE-CEE framework.

Why it Matters

Trauma can leave deep scars, but a stable, empathetic presence provides the predictability needed during moments of extreme vulnerability. Whether it’s a conversation over a hot meal at our Christmas Soup Kitchen or a quiet session in a clinic, this presence signals to the beneficiary that they are no longer invisible.

Through SOLACE-CEE, we are committed to ensuring that no one has to walk the path of recovery alone. We are there to offer support, understanding, and a steady hand at every step.
