This story is not just a story of a successful birth. It is proof that when medical care, social support and human relations go hand in hand, the end is happy and becomes a new beginning.

First step from uncertainty to support
The story begins in the summer of 2025, when Yulia is 22 years old and expecting her first child. She lives with her mother and sister in one of the poorest parts of the Fakulteta neighborhood – Glaveva mahala. Without health insurance and with many household and financial difficulties, the young woman is unable to monitor her pregnancy. Worried about the future and seeking support, she turns to the team of the MIR Center – Suhodolska.
There she meets understanding and care. A social worker refers her to an examination by an obstetrician-gynecologist at the Center’s doctor’s office, where a problem with the fetus is identified. A difficult path begins – hospitalization, administrative obstacles and a denied specialized examination. Disappointed, Yulia returns to the MIR Center – Suhodolska again.
Coordinated actions and timely medical care
The team does not give up. Thanks to the quick actions of Dr. Yotova – gynecologist under the SOLACE-CEE project, a fetal morphology examination was organized at Sheinovo Hospital. The good news – the results are with a favorable prognosis.
From that moment on, Yulia’s pregnancy is monitored regularly in the Center’s doctor’s office. With the support of doctors and social workers, she regains her confidence that she is not alone.
Successful birth and ongoing care
The birth was successful and today the young mother is already holding her baby in her arms.

The care continues now – pediatrician Dr. Baynova monitors the child’s development, and Yulia receives nutritional and social assistance under the SOLACE-CEE project and other programs of the Health & Social Development Foundation – HESED.
Integrated support with real results
Thanks to the integrated services and joint efforts of the medical and social team working on the project at the MIR-Sukhodolska Center, the young woman and her child receive not just help, but a chance for a healthy and fulfilling life. What better proof that sustainable solutions are not limited to a single service or short-term intervention, but create conditions for more such stories with a happy ending! Stories in which vulnerability meets support, and uncertainty – in a new beginning.
