Free digital device rental

Smartphone, tablet, digital blood pressure monitor, blood sugar meter – among other things, people experiencing homelessness can borrow these digital devices at the Integrated Homeless Care Center of the Maltese Charity Service.

The device rental started in mid-March is a pilot program of the SOLACE-CEE international program co-funded by the European Union. The idea for the rental was developed by a working group of expert by experience and is operated by them as well.

The digital health devices that can be borrowed will be an important complementary tool to telemedicine programs – said Dr. Sándor Békási, the professional leader of the international program. In the case of blood pressure or blood sugar problems identified during the online telemedicine visit, we ask participants to measure their parameters several times a day if possible. This will not only help the doctor make better decisions, but we hope it will also contribute to patients taking a more active role in their own treatment and increasing health awareness – added the chief physician.
