Integrated care starts from the most important thing – early childhood development. That is why we have created a sensory room at the MIR-Suhodolska Center at the Fakulteta neighborhood – a specialized space where children can play, explore the world through their senses and develop their skills.
For a child, the opportunity to move, touch, experiment and experience new sensations is not just a game. It is a way to get to know the world and build important skills for their development.
That is why the creation of the sensory room is such an important part of the integrated care that SOLACE-CEE provides to children living in unsecure housing. The project gave us the opportunity to turn a space into an environment created specifically for the needs and development of children.
What happens in the sensory room?
Through movement, play and a variety of sensory experiences, children develop:
- coordination and balance;
- bodily awareness;
- concentration and cognitive skills;
- ability to follow sequences;
- social and emotional skills;
- independence and confidence.
Here, every child gets the opportunity to explore and learn at their own pace, in a safe and stimulating environment.
More than equipment
The SOLACE-CEE project made it possible to create a place that can be part of the development of children every day.
This is an investment in early childhood development – in those first years in which the foundations of future learning, independence, confidence and social inclusion are laid. For us, this sensory room is a concrete example of how the support of the SOLACE-CEE project turns into a real change in place – in a space that exists because the project made it possible to create it, and which today works for the development of children.
